Commercial Projects

QANW class a commercial project as a contract with a company, local authority, housing association or any contract that doesn’t meet the below definition of a domestic contract.

We offer direct, commercial Insurance Backed Guarantees, along with products specific to trade associations such as NFRC and RECC.

> QANW defines a domestic installation as one carried out by an installer on behalf of a private individual customer, on a property used for residential purposes. It is important to note that both criteria must be met and any job which falls outside of this definition will be treated as a commercial contract.

“The installing contractor must contract with a private individual; and the installation must be carried out on a residential property.”

Insurance Backed Guarantees (NFRC Commercial)

Covers Workmanship Only (Includes Materials only if covered on Contractors Guarantee). To utilise this scheme the installer must be registered with NFRC as a Trade Member.  The concept is simple; the insurance backs the terms of the installing contractor’s own written guarantee for a period of 10 years and comes into effect in the event that the contractor has ceased to trade by reason of Liquidation, Receivership or Administration or the Bankruptcy, State Retirement or Death of the Principal(s) and is therefore unable to honour their obligations to the customer.

Insurance Backed Guarantees (NFRC Co-Partnership)

Covers Workmanship and Materials. To utilise this scheme both the manufacturer and the installing contractor must be registered with NFRC. The manufacturer should be an Associate Member of the Federation whilst the installing contractor should be a Trade Member of the Federation. The insurance backs the terms of the installing contractor’s own written guarantee for a period of 10 years and comes into effect in the event that the contractor has ceased to trade and is therefore unable to honour their obligations to the customer and/or replacing defective materials supplied by the Associate Member where the contractor has Ceased Trading and is unable to honour the terms of their own Written Guarantee issued to their customer.

QANW is able to offer commercial insurance backed guarantees in respect of renewable energy installations which are carried out on commercial projects.

The definition of a commercial contract is where the beneficiary of the policy is a commercial entity. The actual property where the work is being carried out may be a domestic property, such as a new build house, a flat, an apartment etc. however if the policy is not in a homeowner’s name then this is deemed as a commercial contract and falls into the commercial bracket.

You must be a member of the RECC and QANW DAWWI scheme to qualify for this offering. The maximum contract value we can provide cover on for renewable energy contracts is £100,000. Please note if you have a contract where there is multiple worktypes being installed which exceed £100,000 but are individually under £100,000 please call us as we may consider providing cover.
