So, you've received some insurance paperwork through from a company called "QANW" and you've not applied for any insurance, sound familiar?

Let us explain with a quick example…

When you buy a new washing machine it will come with a 10-year guarantee, meaning that if for any reason the washing machine stops working you can claim against the guarantee and get it sorted at no cost. Giving you confidence that your investment is guaranteed for a few years.

Well, an insurance backed guarantee works in a similar fashion in that it provides you with protection if your installing contractor is no longer able to honour their written guarantee as they have ceased to trade.

If you’ve had some home improvement works carried out on your property recently then your installer has applied for this insurance on your behalf at no extra cost to you!

The Basics…

First of all, please keep the policy documents you’ve received in a safe place- you will need them if you ever need to make a claim.

Your installer will have provided you with a written guarantee in relation to the works you have had carried out which will detail exactly what they cover and for how long. You should also keep this document safe as you will need to provide this if you make a claim.

An insurance backed guarantee provides protection to you in the event that you encounter a problem with your installation, that would have been covered under the installing contractors written guarantee, and your installing contractor has ceased to trade. The policy provides you with the peace of mind that even if your original installer is no longer trading you have a backup insurance in place.
